Owethu is 23 years old. He finished Grade7 piano at Elkanah High School. Owethu is experienced in the South African music industry, having played for artists such as Lloyd Cele, Demi Lee, Emo Adams and more. Owethu has also recorded and released music under the names: Kujenga, and Forest key.
